Gayla Dawn Reinkens, age 65, passed away on Sept. 7 unexpectedly at KU Medical Center. Gayla was born on May 10, 1956 in Fort Scott, Kan. She traveled and lived in many different states, and had resided in Girard, Kan., at the time of her death. Gayla is survived by her mom, Betty J. Shelton selected as choice for county clerk

The Bourbon County Republican Central Committee has appointed Ashely Shelton, currently an employee in the county clerk’s office, as the new Bourbon County clerk. Shelton was chosen to replace current county clerk Kendell Mason during a meeting of the committee Thursday night at the Empress Event Center.
