The Good Ol' Days Steering Committee is working overtime to plan for the 2008 celebration set for June 7 and 8. This year's festival will include many exciting events. In response to numerous requests, Good Ol' Days 2008 will include a carnival. All Season's Amusements will operate Thursday evening, Friday evening, Saturday and Sunday during the festival. Home repair program offers disaster assistance

An agency based in Topeka has established a new program that will provide financial assistance to families displaced by severe storms and flooding that occurred in the region last summer. The Kansas Housing Resources Corporation, a housing assistance agency, recently designed the Homebuyer Repair Program, which assists people in households who lack the full amount of funds required to repair or reconstruct their homes following damages sustained from storms and flooding that struck different portions of Southeast Kansas in July 2007.. ...

Fort Scott High School hosts Independence tonight in Southeast Kansas League games at the FSHS gymnasium.
