The nation's fallen soldiers will be remembered and honored through the annual Wreaths Across America ceremony. The wreath-laying ceremony, set for 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 12, at the Fort Scott National Cemetery, 900 E. National Ave., will honor veterans of each branch of the military, the Merchant Marine as well as prisoners of war and those still missing in action...

Myrl 'Gene' Irwin, age 78, passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 18, 2015. He was born on Oct. 9, 1937 in Prescott, Kan. He married Edna Mae Anderson on May 7, 1960. Together, they had two sons. The family moved to California in 1965. Gene and Edna were married for 32 years before Edna passed in 1993. ...

Novalene Nichols, 75, Overland Park, Kan., passed away Dec. 3, 2015. Services will be at 11 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 7 at Charter Funerals, 10250 W. 63rd St., Merriam, Kan., with visitation beginning at 10 a.m.
