Music has traditionally been a part of the annual Pioneer Harvest Fiesta for several years and for the last six or seven years, Floyd Feezell has been there. Feezell, a Fort Scott resident, will be among several other musicians who plan to perform as part of the 57th annual Pioneer Harvest Fiesta this weekend at the Bourbon County Fairgrounds. Albert Franklin Kitchens, Jr., age 89 of Tonganoxie, Kan., passed away on Tuesday Sept. 17, 2013, at the Tonganoxie Nursing Center after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease. Louis Victor "Lew" Sciortino, 96, formerly of Fort Scot, died Tuesday morning, Sept. 17, 2013 at the Sweet Life Care Facility in Shawnee, Kan. He was born Sept. 16, 1917 in St. Louis, Mo., the son of Baldassare and Agostina Leggio Sciortino. He married Lee Vaccaro in 1939 and they divorced in 1943, to this union was born a son, Benjamin. ...

PITTSBURG -- Fort Scott High School's freshmen football team lost to Pittsburg here Monday night by a score of 35-0. The junior varsity squad defeated the Purple Dragons, 28-7.
