When bad weather comes along, many factors determine when and where teams will play their games. It's an activities directors' job to sort everything out.

PAOLA -- Fort Scott High's girls finished in third place while the boys came in fourth in a 12-team track meet here Friday. Even with seven medals awarded in each event rather than the usual six, there were not very many individual medalists partly due to the depth of the field and partly due to the performances of the top team on each side of the standings...

Fort Scott High's varsity softball team defeated the Wichita Warriors 5-0 in a non-league game Saturday. Then the Tiger junior varsity went out and beat essentially the same team 2-0. It was a different sort of day all around for the Tigers (2-1). First, this was a Saturday morning game, starting at 10:30 a.m., instead of the usual 4:30 weekday start. ...

OSWEGO -- Uniontown's baseball team split a make-up doubleheader with Oswego here Friday evening. The homestanding Indians won the first game, 16-1, but the Eagles took the second game, 3-1. FRONTENAC -- Jayhawk-Linn's girls easily took the team title of the rain-delayed Frontenac Invitational here Friday evening. The Jayhawks scored 142 points, finishing well ahead of second-place Pittsburg Colgan, which scored 79. Uniontown was third with 54 points...

Fort Scott Community College's baseball teams split a pair of Jayhawk Conference-Eastern Division doubleheaders on the road last weekend but managed to stay in fourth place in the division. The top eight teams in the Eastern and Western divisions qualify for the Region VI Tournament. The top four teams in each division get to host a best-of-three first-round series...

PITTSBURG -- Fort Scott High senior Tony Karleskint's 20 points and game-high 11 rebounds helped Team KSEK to a 112-106 victory over Team KLKC in the U.S. Army/KSEK/KLKC All-Star Game at St. Mary's-Colgan Fieldhouse here Sunday afternoon. Meanwhile, Joce Allen's Team KLKC team got the better of Afton Gray's KSEK team, 69-57, in the girls' contest in which the Fort Scott teammates had to play against each other...
