PITTSBURG -- Fort Scott High senior Tony Karleskint's 20 points and game-high 11 rebounds helped Team KSEK to a 112-106 victory over Team KLKC in the U.S. Army/KSEK/KLKC All-Star Game at St. Mary's-Colgan Fieldhouse here Sunday afternoon.

Meanwhile, Joce Allen's Team KLKC team got the better of Afton Gray's KSEK team, 69-57, in the girls' contest in which the Fort Scott teammates had to play against each other.

Danny Brown, who first coached Fort Scott's girls before taking over the boys' program, was the head coach for Team KSEK in both contests.

Boys: Team KSEK 112, Team KLKC 106.

Coffeyville's Mitch Rolls tried to help Team KLKC in a high-scoring game featuring top players from Southeast Kansas.

Rolls nailed a perimeter jumper with 54 seconds left in regulation, pulling KLKC with 108-106. But Karleskint scored a basket with 32.5 seconds left to give KSEK a four-point lead.

Cherryvale's Chad Tremain added a bucket in the final seconds for KSEK to seal the victory.

Chanute's Devon Crabtree, from Chanute, was named as the game's Most Valuable Player after scoring 29 points on 14-for-19 field-goal shooting. Humboldt's Zach Cole added 16 points while Pittsburg High's C.J. Fondren chipped in with 12.

Erie's Ethan Cornell led KLKC with 19 points. Greg Hayes of Iola scored 15 points, Nathan Hughes of Riverton 14, Gavin Cole of Marmaton Valley 13 and Beau Ratzlaff of Fredonia 11.

Girls: Team KLKC 69, Team KSEK 57.

Labette County's 6' 4" Kendra Frazier, who was recently named the Gatorade Player of the Year in Kansas, led Team KLKC with 28 points and 17 rebounds. Fort Scott's Allen scored nine points, tied with Iola's Misty Powelson for the high in assists with four and led all players with four steals.

Gray didn't score for Team KSEK but had two rebounds and two steals. KSEK tried to counter Frazier's height advantage by taking a lot of outside shots. However, that strategy backfired as KSEK went just one of 28 from three-point range.

Allen and Karleskint, as well as Fort Scott's Jeff Johnson and Matt Wheeler and Uniontown's Riley Stephens, will play in an all-star game at Neosho County Community College in Chanute Sunday. The girls' game tips off at 4 p.m. with the boys' set for 6.

NOTES -- There were also three-point shooting and slam dunk contests. Stevi Schultz of Neodesha won the girls' three-point contest with 11 goals. Fondren won the boys' competition with 12 three-pointers. Pittsburg's Sean Stotler sealed a win in the slam dunk contest by catching classmate Alex O'Nelio's pass off the backside of the backboard and slamming it through on his final attempt....
