Ottilie "Tillie" Pauline Smith, 82 of Pleasanton, Kan., died Monday, Aug. 27, 2007, at University of Kansas Medical Center, Kansas City, Kan. She was born Dec. 21, 1924, in Frankfurt, Germany, the daughter of Justis and Charlotte Desch Giehs. As a young woman, she was drafted into the German Army.
