100 YEARS AGO (1907) Sheriff Hesser went to Uniontown this afternoon to serve some papers. The Fort Scott Board of Education may decide to do away with the position of supervisor of music. The teacher who held the position last year has resigned and Superintendent Bowen stated today that there was a probability of the job going by default. This does not mean that music will be discontinued in all schools. But then again, the board may decide to have another supervisor employed...

The second phase of the Kansas Highway Patrol's "Trucks on Patrol for Safety" program has been traveling through Southeast Kansas since Aug. 20, a KHP statement said Friday.
