Tiger boys advance to Sub-State championship

Behind an explosive offensive attack, the No. 5 seeded Fort Scott High School Tiger boys cruised to a 64-36 victory over the No. 12 seeded Tonganoxie High School Chieftains in the first round of the Class 4A Sub-State boys basketball tournament Wednesday evening in the FSHS gym.

The Tigers (15-6) will travel to Chanute to take on the No. 4 seeded Blue Comets (16-5) in one of four Sub-State championship games in the East bracket Saturday. Chanute defeated No. 13 seeded Wamego High School (6-15) in the first round Wednesday.

Leading scorer for the Tigers was junior Dub Chipman with 20 points, while Tonganoxie senior Alex Crowley had 13.
