As dry conditions continue, the city of Fort Scott has issued a water warning.

The city’s warning follows a governor-issued water emergency declaration for Bourbon County and other areas in Kansas.

The city’s warning went into effect Wednesday, according to a press release issued Tuesday evening by City Manager Brad Matkin. The city’s water storage has dropped below 70% “and will nor recover within a normal amount of time,” Matkin stated in the press release.

“The goals of this stage are to reduce peak demands by 20 percent and to reduce overall weekly consumption by 10 percent.
