Design Review Board gives nod to splash pad in historic district

The Fort Scott Design Review Board voted Thursday to recommend the creation of a splash pad and sensory park. The proposed location is on the northwest portion of Skubitz Plaza.

The vote was not unanimous. Board Chairman Arnold Schofield broke the tie by voting in favor of recommending the location as well as board members Rick Zingre and Stacy Wood. Board members Mary Jane Gentry and Peggy Cummings voted no.

The Fort Scott City Commission is expected to vote on the location during its regular meeting, which begins at 6 p.m. Tuesday.
