JV tennis hosts home tournament

Fort Scott High School played host to its home junior varsity tennis tournament Monday. Pittsburg was the team champion with 14 points followed by Independence with 13. The Tigers finished with 3 points for fourth place.

Jayden Royal-Bey and Weston Pellett were third in No. 1 doubles. They beat Medrano/Serrano of Independence, 6-4, and Moyer/Cummings of Chanute, 6-5 (5). They lost to Shelite/Valdez of Parsons, 6-0, and Cooper/Worsley of Pittsburg, 6-0.

Sage Hill and Garen DeMott were fifth in No. 2 doubles. They lost to Kim/Smith of Parsons, 6-1, Conley/Sanches of Independence, 6-4, Lewis/Guernsey of Chanute, 6-3, and Utley/Russian of Pittsburg, 6-0.

The Tiger JV plays at Labette County April 23.
