Rex Alan Hixon

Rex Alan Hixon, age 64, passed away on Sept. 28, 2017, in Gainsville, Fla. Rex was living in Clermont, Fla. He was born in Fort Scott, Kan., Nov. 30, 1952, to Lyle and Maryetta (Tanner) Hixon of Redfield, Kan. He attended Redfield grade school, graduated from Fort Scott High School and Fort Scott Community College and attended Pittsburg State University. He was united in marriage to Roxanne Rushing May 26, 1972. They had two sons together, Tracey Alan and Anthony Jason.

Rex joined the Army National Guard after high school. He worked as a road surveyor and started his career at E&K Drywall in Nebraska as an estimator, then was promoted to project manger, then vice president. Rex and Roxanne moved to Florida in 2006 where he had the opportunity to be a project manager at Ken-Pat USA until his passing.

Rex had many interests, especially playing golf, where he could often be seen on a golf course no matter where he was. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially fishing and boating. Rex especially enjoyed spending time with his family. He was very strong in his faith and was a member of New Life Worship Center in Gotha, Fla.

Rex was preceded in death by his wife Roxanne, his father Lyle, his son Tracey and niece Stephanie. Survivors include his mother, Maryetta Hixon, sister Sue Shelton; son Anthony Hixon and wife Michelle; grandsons Christian and Kaiden Hixon; daughter-in-law Erin Williams; granddaughters Hayley Groat-Hixon and Mikayla Hixon; nephew Scott Shelton and wife Ashley and their son, Ty; sister-in-law Pat Montgomery, along with many other family members and friends who will miss him dearly.

Memorial services will be held at the Redfield United Methodist Church in Redfield, Kan., with Rev. Connie McKee officiating Sunday, Oct. 15 at 2 p.m. with graveside service at Woods Cemetery following the memorial service.
