Clara Maye Stennett

Clara Maye Stennett, age 97, a resident of Fort Scott, Kan., passed away Wednesday, Feb. 22, 2017, at the Medicalodge of Fort Scott. She was born Dec. 4, 1919, in Dwight, Kan., the daughter of William James Albert "Bert" Arnett and Artie Meacy Rader Arnett. Maye worked as a waitress in Wichita restaurants for several years. She had made her home in Joplin, Mo., and later moved to Fort Scott where she made her home at the Scott View Apartments. She was a member of the Eastern Star.

Survivors include two nephews, Lawrence Fleming of Saucier, Miss., and Russell Arnett, of Long Beach, Calif., and a niece, Sharon Arnett, of Lee's Summit, Mo. Also surviving is her caregiver, Patty Simpson, of Fort Scott. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Private burial will take place on Monday, Feb. 27 at the Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery in Joplin, Mo. Services are under the direction of the Cheney Witt Chapel, 201 S. Main St., Fort Scott, Kan.
