Bronson High alumni hold 78th reunion

BRONSON -- Seventy-five Bronson High School alumni and guests gathered at the Bronson Community Center May 23 for the 78th annual reunion and banquet. The meal was catered by the Chicken Shack in Bronson and was served by the Uniontown High School FFA and their sponsor, Mr. Kevin Gleason.

President Steve Ward began the evening with Bronson trivia that generated good memories for all. Joe Clark gave the invocation. The group enjoyed music and commentary by Lloyd Houk from Moran.

The 2015 officers were Steve Ward, President; Don Mefford, Vice President; Judy Johnson Wilson, Secretary/Corresponding Secretary; and Jackie McClimans Warren, Treasurer.

Representing the Hall of Fame Induction Committee, Judy Kuns Gifford and Janice Leadstrom Olson announced the 2015 inductees. They were Arnold Swink for Community Service and Chuck Shelton for Service in Education. John Shelton accepted the posthumous award for his brother.

Martha Shelton Poore lead a memorial service for 10 alumni who have passed away since the last meeting. Those alumni were Margaret Entzminger Stewart, Ethel Clemings Glenn, Hazel Harrison Murrow, Ruth Pool Buchanan, Donaldeen Kibble Rei, Anor Popp Lemmon, Barbara Likely Bland, Irene Willits Helm, Anita Robinson Ayre, and Heather Sue Hayden Mitchell.

Following a short business meeting, the 50-year Class of 1965 was honored. Five members from the class of nine graduates were present. They were Alan Stewart, Danny Graham, Dennis Hockett, Gloria Stewart Eaton, and Steve Ward.

Alumni and guests attending from Bronson were Reta Mae Ermel Johnson, Elvis and Geraldine Wolford Reeder, Tom and Margaret Johnson, Edna Marie Sharkey Jackson, Buford Stewart, Raymond (Chub) and Helen Clark Bolling, Rex and Judy Johnson Wilson, Sandra Laws Woods, Alan and Charlotte Stewart, Revelle Wilson and Larry Tinsley, and Mary Louise Camac Wilson.

Attending from Fort Scott were Enid Shinn Large and Vivian Moore, Joe Dawson, Katherine Stewart Guss, Allen and Jackie McClimans Warren, and Martha Kuns Ivey.

Alumni and guests from Iola were Margaret Nichols Ruckman and Deb Scheibmeir, Jack and Bernita Dawson, Mary Lea Wright, and Janelle Kershner.

Attending from Moran were Lucille Deer Bacon, Jack Johnson, Melinda Hockett Henderson and Lloyd Houk.

Alumni attending from Uniontown were Ronda Johnson Murrow and Danny Graham.

Alumni and guests from Mound City were Dean Pratt and Sally Cox, and Don and Linda Mefford.

Reta Mae Ermel Johnson from the class of 1937 was honored as being the oldest graduate present. Kathryn Danielson Pitts from Tatum, N.M. was recognized for coming the farthest distance.
