Janie Mae Ruble

Janie Mae Ruble, age 69, resident of Fort Scott, Kan., died Thursday, Jan. 23, 2014, at Mercy Hospital. She was born Nov. 22, 1944, in Fort Scott, the daughter of Wayne R. and Oleta Kilgore Davidson. She was a graduate of Hume High School, Class of 1962. She was a member of the Methodist church and the Order of the Eastern Star. She married Larry G. Ruble on June 17, 1966, in Miami, Okla. The marriage later dissolved but they remained friends. Janie worked at raising her family and outside employment at Mid-America Business Forms, Ward/Kraft, Inc.; also at Topco Laminates, Bourbon County Courthouse and Citizen's Bank, retiring there in December 2009. She was a devoted mother and grandmother, calling her grandchildren her "treasures." She enjoyed sewing, baking, bluegrass music, writing poetry, and visiting her children whenever possible.

Survivors include her daughter, Janette L. Boone and husband Cline, Shawnee, Kan.; her son, David G. Ruble and wife Angie, Minneapolis, Kan.; her mother, Oleta Davidson, Hume, Mo.; two sisters, Kathy Whitehead and husband Lonnie, Adrian, Mo., and Patti Smith and husband Ken, Blue Springs, Mo.; her former husband Larry Ruble; former brother-in-law Danny Ruble and wife Carol; and former sister-in-law Sandra Davidson. Also surviving are seven grandchildren, Brooks Danahy, Claire Boone, Cline E. Boone, Olivia Boone and Eleanor Boone, all of Shawnee, Kan., and Wayne Ruble and Mason Ruble of Minneapolis, Kan.; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her father, her brother, Sam Davidson and her sister-in-law Kathy Davidson; her former sister-in-law Patsy Dosstter and husband Earl; former fathers-in-law, Ray Ruble and Hugh Daly; and former mother-in-law Mildred Ruble Daly.

Rev. Chuck Russell will conduct funeral services at 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 27, at the Cheney Witt Chapel. Burial will follow in the Maple Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 until 2 p.m. Monday at the Chapel. Memorials are suggested to Care to Share and may be left in care of the Cheney Witt Chapel, P.O. Box 347, 201 S.
