David E. Enloe

David E. Enloe, age 70, a resident of 1926 Locust Rd., Fort Scott, Kan., died Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2014, at the Via Christi Hospital in Pittsburg, Kan. He was born Feb. 3, 1943, in Turner, Kan., the son of Ray Enloe and Pauline Morgan Enloe. He attended both Turner, Kan., and Rayville, Mo., schools. David married Mary L. Burns July 3, 1965, at Kansas City, Kan. The couple moved from Kansas City to Redfield, Kansas in 1977. While in Kansas City, David worked for the International Paper Company. After moving to Fort Scott, he helped his parents with Big Bell Antiques located on Wall Street. He also maintained his own cattle herd. In his earlier years, he enjoyed coon hunting and raising coonhounds. He also enjoyed refinishing furniture and going to auctions and casinos.

Survivors include his wife, Mary, of the home; a son, Darwin Enloe of Fort Scott; a grandson, Blake Enloe, Mapleton, Kan.; and six great-grandchildren. Also surviving are a sister, Barbara Cummingham, Wichita Falls, Texas, a sister-in-law, Marilyn Enloe, Kansas City, Kan., and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, John Enloe, a grandson, J. C. Enloe and two brothers, Donald and Richard Enloe.

Rhonda Dunn will conduct funeral services at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 4, 2014, at the Cheney Witt Chapel. Burial will follow in the Marmaton Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the Cheney Witt Chapel.
