So, just where does all that Farmers' Market stuff come from?

Local residents who want to get a view of the agricultural side of business in the area will get that opportunity through an upcoming Fort Scott Area Chamber of Commerce-sponsored tour.

On Thursday, May 23, the chamber will host "Behind the Scenes of the Farmers' Market," a tour that will feature several well-known vendors of the local market, which began its season this week.

The agribusiness event, organized by Southwind Extension District Extension Agent -- Agriculture, Delta George, will take place from 3 to about 6:30 p.m. Tours will depart from the chamber office, 231 E. Wall St.

"Delta has helped us out with these tours; this was her idea," FSACC Executive Director Lindsay Madison said.

Participants will take a tour of operations owned by Ronnie and Beverly Brown of 1269 Birch Road; Chet and Linda Bower of 1550 215th Street, and Tim and Carol Allison of 1897 175th Street.
