Eagles 1-2 at Central Heights

RICHMOND -- Although Uniontown's volleyball team won only one of three matches in the Central Heights Tournament here Saturday, head coach Jackie Hall was not disappointed in her team's play.

"The adjustments we have made are working," Hall said. "In every match, we were passing 60 to 70 percent, which enables us to get better sets to our hitters. At this tournament, we were hitting against some big blockers, over six feet, something we have not seen a lot of. So we had a lot of deflections coming back to our side which we did not always convert."

The Eagles (23-9) defeated Erie, 25-22, 25-13. Hayden Rathbun and Hope Jurgensen each had 5 kills. Tayler Shook handed out 11 assists.

Class 4A Osawatomie defeated Class 2A Uniontown, 25-23, 25-19. Rathbun had 6 kills for the Eagles while Ashley Nietfeld had 4. Shook was credited with 6 assists.

Jurgensen was injured during that match and did not return. Hall said that Emily Shinn stepped in and played well in Jurgensen's place.

Another 4A school Carbondale-Santa Fe Trail defeated Uniontown, 25-14, 25-20. Nietfeld had 5 kills and Rathbun 4. Shook picked up 9 assists.

"Our primary passers, Lauren (Rockhold), Jessica Murrow and Paige Stainbrook, did a great job all day passing and they dug some great hits from all the teams we played," Hall said.

Tonight is Senior Night with the Eagles hosting Pleasanton and Marmaton Valley. The first match begins at 5 p.m.
