To the Editor:

One year ago March 23, President Obama signed "Obamacare," officially entitled the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA), into law.

Unfortunately, a check of the facts proves the law isn't as advertised. It neither protects patients nor eases health care costs. For example, the $2.6 trillion legislation has forced many Americans to switch out of plans that they liked and pay higher premiums. It has reduced health care choices for patients of all ages.

To date, more than 1,000 groups and unions that supported the law have found that they cannot operate within Obamacare and have received waivers from the government. If only every Kansas family could get that same waiver!

One year later, it's clear we need to get rid of the taxes, the regulations and the mandates. We need to scrap this law and attempt step-by- step reforms that address the problem of cost and access to quality health care for all Americans.
