Police probe spate of broken car windows

Tuesday, January 4, 2011

Fort Scott police officers kept busy during the New Year's holiday. Officers responded to 10 calls Sunday regarding windows being broken in vehicles around town.

As of Monday afternoon, FSPD Lt. Travis Shelton said a man's wallet was stolen from a vehicle, while $70 in cash was stolen from a truck at the same location. Shelton said it is possible that the acts of vandalism could be connected to the string of broken windows in local businesses in 2009, however, there is currently no evidence linking the incidents.

Anyone who has a tip or lead that police may follow regarding the criminal damages is encouraged to call the FSPD Tip hotline at (620) 223-1711. People who choose to call the hotline can leave an anonymous voice message for police. Callers also have the option of dialing FSPD dispatch at 223-1700.
