INDEPENDENCE -- Independence held Fort Scott High's Jolee Sharp to 4 points here Tuesday night as the Bulldogs went on to a 33-24 victory in Southeast Kansas League play at Losey Gymnasium.

The Bulldogs (4-0 SEK and overall) held the Tigers (1-2, 2-4) to their fewest points since a 47-24 loss at Parsons on Feb. 10, 2006. The last time the Tigers scored less was in 1989-90 when they lost to Iola, 22-18.

Oddly enough, in a game where both offenses struggles, there were long second-half runs. The Tigers started one toward the end of the third and carried it on into the fourth, a 14-3 run that put them up 24-20 with about 4 1/2 minutes to go.

But Fort Scott never scored again and Independence ended the contest by scoring 13 unanswered points.

Kelby McGrath led Indy with 15 points. Megan McDermed led the Tigers with 9.

The Tigers play at Columbus in Southeast Kansas League action Friday night at 6 p.m.
