Donna M. Schnichels, 49, of Fort Scott, passed away from her life here on Earth to join her Lord and Savior in Heaven, Saturday morning, Jan. 10, 2009, at the KU Medical Center in Kansas City, Kan.

She was born October 17, 1959 in Fort Scott, Kan., the daughter of Stanley and Helen (Pettibon) Schnichels.

Donna was a great source of strength to those who loved and cared for her as she lived with her lifelong disability and her most recent medical condition.

She resided at the Winfield State Hospital and various nursing facilities for many years before moving back to the Fort Scott area. She participated in the Tri valley Workshop program until the time of her hospitalization.

She is survived by her cousins and caretakers, David C. and Karon Schnichels, of the home, as well as their children: Heather, Megan, Courtney, and Kyle Schnichels, and Brandi Robertson.

Also surviving is a sister; Virginia Lillian Schnichels of Eldorado Springs, Mo., aunts; Elfie Schnichels, Marmaton, Kan., Ann Schnichels, Fort Scott, Darlene Compton, Nevada, Mo., Phyllis Stoddard, Nevada, Mo., Lelia Shields, Florence, Ore., Vickie Wolford, Yoncalla, Ore., and Lucy Garrett, Lowry City, Mo., uncles; David W. Schnichels, Fort Scott, Larry Pettibon, Bower, Mo., and Clifford Pettibon, Nevada, Mo., her adopted grandmother; Virginia Schnichels, rural Fort Scott, several cousins, and her Tri Valley family. She was preceded in death by her parents, twin brother Ronald Eugene Schnichels, brother Danny Joe Schnichels, and a sister; Debra Ann Schnichels, as well as her grandparents and several aunts and uncles.

Rev. Marty DeWitt will conduct funeral services for Donna at 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 16, 2009 at the Konantz-Cheney Funeral Home, with burial following at the Centerville Cemetery in Devon, Kan.

Visitation will be Thursday evening, Jan. 15, 2009 from 6 p.m. until 7 p.m.
