Airport Day thanks

To the Editor,

In spite of the threatening weather, our 10th Annual Airport Day was a success. We had a very good crowd, great entertainment, numerous aerobatic performances and plenty to eat. The Day started off with biscuits and gravy, provided by the Kiwanis Club. The FSHS Band, directed by James Fox, the FSHS Strolling Strings, directed by Jane Williams, the FSHS Select Ensemble, directed by Pat Harry, and the FSCC Band, directed by Betty Jo Laflen, provided musical entertainment. Later, lunch was provided by the local Pioneer Kiwanis Club.

The Airport Day would not be possible without: Pat Pence, Josh Pence, Ralph Davis, Charley Clay, Diane Clay, Chris Comstock, Ralph Carlson, Danny Renfro, Pat Renfro, Jim Gladbach, Ronny Kellogg, Barbara Kellogg, David Lamb, Trisha Howard, Chris Howard, Louella Howard, Deidra and Matt Howard, Danny Brown, Carol Brown, Bill Waldron, Eric Spencer, Shawn Goans, Trenton Banwart, Jim Shoemaker, Mike Embry and Family, David Lipe, Ken Lyon, Michele Lyon, Kevin Lyon, Fuss N' Feathers, All Hit 103.9 FM, Ruddick's, Pizza Hut, The Fort Scott Tribune, Sonic/ John Horn, Bronson Locker, Great Plains Deli, Woods Supermarket, Gene's IGA, Dr. Rick Kellenberger, Bourbon Co. Rural Fire Department, Hiattville Fire Department, The Hooligans, Joplin motorcycle stunt team, Mercy Health Center Ambulance, Heart of America Show Team, Pittsburg Civil Air Patrol, Shepherd Team Auto Plaza, and Dough Boyz Pizzeria.

We would also like to thank Betty Boyko, Superintendent of the National Historic Site, for providing their color guard for the opening ceremonies, Pastor Steve MacArthur for saying the prayer, Rotary Barber Shop Ensemble for singing the National Anthem, and City Commissioner Jim Adams for his welcome remarks.

Airport Day has become a very nice event for the citizens of Bourbon County and this area. I am sure everyone appreciates the time and effort donated by the folks and groups listed above.

Thank you.

Bob Marshall, Chairman Airport Advisory Board
