Congratulations to the 4H on their achievements at the fair.

Saturday, July 21, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Ludlum, Martha Ann Callow, Beverly Davis, Lynda Foster, Mattie Nell Dixon and Clara Brewer enjoyed attending the 80 birthday of Virginia Chambers at the "Shed," in rural LaCygne. They especially enjoyed visiting with the following former members of the Hiattville community, Mr. and Mrs. Tom Woodworth, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Salmon, Patricia Salmon WEst, Jeannie Schottin and Amanda and Matt, Barbara Armstrong Simmons and Roberto Armstrong Davis. Mr. and Mrs. Steve Plaster also attended the party.

Mr. and Mrs. Steve Plaster enjoyed a trip to the southwestern states, especially New Mexico recently.

Mr. and Mrs. Rick Brown, Trenton and Cole visited with Herman Werholtz on Saturday, July 21.

Visitors at worship, July 22, were Chaftin Leggett and Alex Rodriquez. Pastor Smith's sermon was titled "Rest on the Truth."Scripture was read from Colossians 1:15-28 and Luke 10: 38-42.

Pastor Andy Smith was in Greenburg, July 24-27, helping clean up debris.

Lavone Page and Dale and Lois Brillhart have returned from a trip to Las Vegas where they attended the wedding of Lavone's granddaughter Marla.

There will be a memorial service at the Hiattville church Aug. 4 at 10 a.m. for Louise Morrison. She died June 4 in Winner, S.D. Her body was cremated. Her son David is in town awaiting the service. For more information about the service go to obituaries on page 2.

Ronnie and Beverly Brown recently attended a joint annual meeting of the Kansas Association of Conservation Districts and the State Conservation Commission in Garden City, Kan.

Ronnie is the Area 5 director for KACD, which consists of 20 counties in southeast Kansas.

After returning from this meeting they were in Washington D.C. along with three other state directors and the executive director of KACD to attend the legislative session of the National Association of Conservation Districts and to lobby for the conservation portion of the new farm bill. High light included visiting the offices of Representatives, Boyda, Moran, Moor and Tihart and the offices if Senators, Sam Brownback and Pat Roberts.

Among the speakers at the session were Representative Collin Powell of Minnesota, chairman of the house Ag. Committee and Senator Tom Hawkins of Iowa, a member of senates Ag. Committee.

Visitors at worship on July 29 were Mr. and Mrs. Keith brown, Mrs. Mary Helen Green and Kolby and Caden Slater of Okla. Pastor Smith's sermon was titled "Whose Church is This." Scripture was read from Colossians 2: 6-19 and Matthew 16:13-18.

The monthly administrative board meeting was held following the morning services with Ronnie Brown presiding.

Ronnie and Beverly Brown are enjoying their grandson spending time with them this week. He was also a visitor at church Sunday morning.

Kolby and Caden Slater are visiting their grandparents John and Lorna Slater this week.

Rachel and Kevin Wagner were hosts for a birthday party for their son Kole, Saturday July 28. Kole, enjoyed having three of his little friends go swimming with him at the Fort Scott pool. Then having a picnic at Gunn Park. Others attending were his grandparents, Charles and Paula Brewer, and Clara, his aunt and uncle Laura and Barry Vogelbacher and cousin Payton.
