To the Editor,

Relay for Life committee says "thank you" to all who helped in any way to make this year a success!

This year began for us in January, with Chamber Coffee at Woods Supermarket, compliments from Woods with a wonderful buffet of donuts, fruit, coffee, and juice, with a wonderful attendance from Fort Scott Chamber members. We began to recruit.

Then we had our Kick Off for our teams in February at Community Christian Church, compliments from Marsha's Great Plains Deli, Frito Lay, Kristie Maycumber, and our committee. Community Christian Church has opened their doors for us to use their gym and kitchen for Kick Off and for our Survivor Dinners, and it is a great place for us.

Our committee and team captains keep each other busy sharing new ideas and new fundraisers to meet their goals and we had some very fun, excited, good, and good money making projects this year. We meet the first Wednesday evening of each month.

Our survivors are a very important role in our Relay For Life. We Relay 4 U !!

We want them involved in all ways and we want to help them in any way. Once you become diagnosed with cancer, you become one of our survivors, we are here to help.

Wendy Budd is our survivor chair. Teresa Davenport is beginning a Support Group.

If interested please call Wendy Budd (620) 223-4912. We have a wonderful survivor dinner for our survivors and their families compliments of Wal-mart. It is also held at the Community Christian Church.

Relay day begins at 7 a.m. with our great group of sand men, that meet us at the track with their lawn tractors to fill our luminaria bags and distribute them all around the track.

Then the tents go up, stage goes out, thanks to Mr. Fink and Mr. Clary, survivors come and pick up their shirts, we watch for the rain ( I do believe God was with us this year), and it all comes together at 6 p.m., The Relay For Life.

Through out the night, we introduce our committee, our corporate sponsors, and we honor our survivors, we have great entertainment, we give away gifts, complements of Fort Scott merchants, we have a wonderful luminaria service, basket auctions, midnight madness begins our team skits. We have great food prepared and served by Community Christian Church, breakfast served by The Fort Scott Fire Department. This year Locks of Love was a great addition to our Relay. Local beauticians cut hair to donate to our cancer victims. We have closing ceremonies, rewarding prizes to teams and announcing team totals, best skit and best decorated tent.

All year round we have great coverage from our local newspaper and radio station.

All we have to do is make a phone call and they are more than happy to work with us.

It is and was an awesome night and it takes people like you to make this possible.

So, to Bourbon County, we thank you for the great support, and look forward to working with you for Relay for Life of Bourbon County 2008!
