Thanks to the postal carriers

Tuesday, June 5, 2007

To the Editor,

The United States Postal Service letter carriers organize annual food drives throughout the nation each May. This past May 2007, the Fort Scott Post Office letter carriers completed another successful food collection in our area. In addition to their regular duties of mail delivery, the carriers collected food left by postal patrons. Two truckloads of food items, estimated at over half a ton, were delivered to The Beacon Food Pantry. This is a great public service, as it resupplies food items to better meet the increased needs for food assistance to many low income families in Bourbon County. A big thank-you to the letter carriers, helpful postal workers, and generous and thoughtful members of the community who gave food.
