GIRARD -- Fort Scott High School's softball "C" team played a doubleheader here Wednesday with Girard winning both games by 4-3 scores.

Game one went nine innings before Girard broke a 3-3 tie. Sammi Therwanger pitched every inning, allowing two earned runs on six hits, walking four and striking out 16.

The Tigers only had two hits. Casey Rickerson's hit drove in two runs. Brittany Hall had the other hit.

In the second game, both teams had just two hits but Girard won it in the bottom of the sixth (JV and C games are usually only five innings). Amanda Bowles was the Tigers' pitcher, allowing three earned runs and six walks while striking out five.

Therwanger and Kaylie Harper had Fort Scott's hits.

There are no other C games planned but the Tiger JV is scheduled to go to Columbus today and Chanute May 10.
