Thelma Juanita Monroe, age 69, of Fort Scott, died Thursday evening March 22, 2007 at the Mercy Health Center. She was born November 18, 1937 in Sheldon, Missouri, the daughter of Wilbur and Hattie Francis Leonard. Juanita is survived by two daughters, Christine George and her husband Tony of Brazoria, Texas, and Marita Duhon of Clut, Texas; four grandchildren, G.K. Lane and his wife Leisa, Stephanie Lassiter and her husband Ken, Desiree Morris and her husband Troy, and Tisha Covington and her husband Tony; seven great-grandchildren. Jordan and Jackson Lane, Logan Lassiter, Coby and Jacob Mackenzie, and Justin and Aaron Covington; five sisters, Frances Brown of Leavenworth, Bernice Calame of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Linda Defebaugh of Fort Scott, Wanda Leonard of Fort Scott, and Dorothy Jenn-Wild of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; and three brothers, Hubert Leonard of Fort Scott, Edwin Leonard of Mesa, Arizona, and Larry Leonard of Owasso, Oklahoma. She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Monroe; her parents; a sister, Nadine Wurtz; a brother, Albert Warren Leonard; and an infant sister, Mary Margaret Leonard.

Funeral services for Juanita will be at 2 p.m. on Thursday, March 29, 2007 at the Konantz-Cheney Funeral Home with a visitation beginning at 1:30 p.m. prior to services. Burial will be in the Memory Gardens of Bourbon County Cemetery.
