Wilma Kay Graham, age 77, a resident of Redfield, Kan., passed away Sunday, Nov. 12, 2023, at her home in Redfield. There was cremation. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 9, at the Redfield United Methodist Church. Dirk Randel Myers, 66, resident of Pittsburg, Kan., passed away late Sunday evening, Nov. 26, 2023. He was born Nov. 8, 1957, in Lawton, Okla., the son of Richard “Dick” Evan Myers and Virginia Joyce (Yoke) Myers. He grew up in Fort Scott and graduated from Fort Scott High School in 1976. ...

Bourbon County Commissioners on Monday said work continues to bring an emergency room and other health care services to the county after Ascension Via Christi ceases operations Dec. 20. Commissioner Clifton Beth said he is not aware of any changes to a plan by Via Christi to close its emergency department on that date, but county officials continue working to solve the problem...

The Fort Scott City Commission voted Tuesday night to support a planning committee working to organize events as Fort Scott hosts the 2024 Kansas Museum Association Conference in late 2024. Kirk Sharp, director of the Gordon Parks Museum, announced to the commission that the museum will be the host site for the conference.
