City commission approves mural honoring 1st Kansas Colored Volunteer Infantry

A final nod of approval was given Tuesday evening when the Fort Scott City Commissioners accepted the Design Review Board’s recommendation to approve a mural honoring the 1st Kansas Colored Volunteer Infantry. Cbabi Bayoc of St. Louis, Mo., the artist chosen to paint the mural, will be in Fort Scott to work on the mural Aug. 20-26, with the unveiling scheduled for Oct. 6 during the Gordon Parks Celebration...
