The county’s new rock crusher purchased earlier this year is expected to be running again after a portion of the machine was damaged by fire the morning of Sept. 27. Public Works Director Eric Bailey reported the machine was being serviced Tuesday and was expected to be in operation again. He said because the county is “in dire need of quarter-inch chips,” the crusher would be running 10-11-hour days through Thursday...

Fort Scott High School’s Lady Tiger tennis squad finished in sixth place at the SEK League Tournament Saturday in Parsons. As a team, Fort Scott’s girls scored 17 points to finish sixth behind Independence in first with 56 points; Parsons in second with 36 points; Chanute in third with 30 points; Labette County High School in fourth with 27 points; and Pittsburg in fifth with 19 points.
