A Fort Scott youth has qualified for the Monster Energy AMA Amateur National Motocross Championship Aug. 2-7 at the Loretta Lynn Ranch in Hurricane Mills, Tenn. Ryan Roberts, 7, qualified for nationals by competing at area qualifying events. He qualified in two different regions; north and south, and qualified at an event in Ponca, Okla., in order to race in Freestone, Texas. The Fort Scott Hurricanes swim team will host a swimming clinic July 1-3 at the Fort Scott Aquatic Center. The clinic will be led by Laryssa McMartin, head men’s and women’s swim coach at Sterling College, an NAIA program located in Sterling, Kan. The clinic is open to Gold and Silver level swimmers interested in experiencing what it would be like to swim at the college level.
