Discrepancy forces city to republish budget, reschedule hearing

The Fort Scott City Commission approved a motion to republish the 2020 budget and rescheduled the budget hearing that was originally expected to take place Tuesday night for the commission’s next meeting, Sept. 3. Director of Finance Rhonda Dunn said a change needs to be made after the city’s proposed budget had been published in the Tribune. Dunn said in looking over budget numbers, she found a “discrepancy in debt service cash from the 2018 audit.”...
