USD 235 board gets look at plans for improvement project

The USD 235 Board of Education is moving forward with a $2.5 million school improvement project, which voters said "yes" to in April 2015. Project to replace Parks' photos underway

After 12 years, the framed photographs that have hung on the walls of the Gordon Parks Museum Center for Diversity and Culture have been removed from display. But the walls won't be bare for long. After attending the October Gordon Parks Celebration in Fort Scott, Executive Director Peter Kunhardt and board member Genevieve Young from the Gordon Parks Foundation in New York, N.Y., said the photos' conditions have deteriorated. No. 4 Trojans keep Tiger girls at bay

Girard's girls, ranked No. 4 in Class 4A-Division II by the Kansas Basketball Coaches Association, did just enough to keep Fort Scott High at bay Friday night, taking a 43-36 win at the FSHS gymnasium. The Trojans did not exactly scorch the nets offensively, shooting just 33 percent from the floor on 15 of 46. But their defensive game plan worked to full effect as a box-and-one defense geared to keep Ashley Cook off the board did just that for most of the game...

Undefeated Girard, ranked No. 3 in Class 4A-Division II by the Kansas Basketball Coaches Association, came to the FSHS gymnasium Friday night and Fort Scott High's boys battled them toe-to-toe.
