PARSONS -- Fort Scott Middle School's seventh-grade girls' basketball teams concluded their seasons here Monday night. The "A" Team took a 45-6 victory while the "B" Team lost 17-15. Big-city media recognizes eight area players

Eight area football players were recognized by either the Wichita Eagle or Topeka Capital-Journal recently by being placed on those newspapers' All-State football teams. The Wichita Eagle named three Fort Scott High School players to it's All-Class 4A-Division I team. Offensive lineman Austin Cook and kicker Brody Southwell were placed on the First Team. Jail project likely to be over budget, county has options

Even before the deed for property selected for the new jail has passed hands, county commissioners on Tuesday were told the project is most likely going to be over budget -- unless construction bids come in lower than expected. City amends budget, raises utility rates

The Fort Scott City Commission addressed some end-of-year financial items during their last meeting of 2015. On Tuesday, commissioners approved some amendments to the city's budget as well as some slight increases in utility rates scheduled to take effect in 2016. Rediscovered train car near Riverfront Park dismantled
