Agreement approved to begin $3.5 million street project

Fort Scott City Commissioners approved taking the next step in getting improvements rolling on National Avenue from Sixth to 13th streets. During their regular meeting Tuesday, commissioners unanimously approved an agreement with the Kansas Department of Transportation concerning the proposed $3.5 million project, which will involve new asphalt paving including curb and gutter, as well as installation of a new 12-inch water line and storm sewer work on National from Sixth to 13th streets...

Sunday fire destroys home while owner out of town
