Street partially barricaded until repairs can be made later

City workers expect to repair a warped section of road at Wall and Judson streets sometime later this year. Barricades have been set up around a section of Judson Street at the intersection, forcing drivers to steer around them on a patch of Judson Street that has bubbled up over time, creating dips for motorists. Fort Scott High's junior varsity tennis team started its season on Monday with a home tournament. Each of the Tigers' entries finished third in their pools, all with 1-2 records on the day in round-robin play. Briana Williams played No. 1 singles. She lost to Independence's Emily Wilson in her first match, 6-0. She defeated Iola's Erin Klubek, 6-3, and lost to Pittsburg's Chania Stewart, 6-2...

2-time State qualifier leads Tiger tennis

Although there are 14 girls out for tennis at Fort Scott High School this season, leadership will have to come from young players as none of them are seniors. Junior Jennifer Harrison is a two-time State qualifier in singles with a high-school varsity record of 37-20, going 20-13 last season. Also, classmates Char Hutchison and Emmah Reeves were 13-15 together as a doubles team last season. But the remainder of the Tiger roster has about 20 sets of varsity experience combined...
