FSCC mill levy to be 'slightly' decreased

The Fort Scott Community College Board of Trustees on Monday set a public hearing for the 2015 budget for Aug. 11. The estimated mill levy is down "slightly" from 2014, according to Karla Armstrong, dean of finance and operations. The mill levy for 2014 was 29.519 and at this time is set for 29.457 for 2015. Trustees do not have an exact amount because the valuation for Bourbon County is not final, Armstrong said...

In 2012 the Kansas legislature passed a statue (72-135) that states: "A school athlete may not participate in any sport competition or practice session unless such athlete and the athlete's parent or guardian have signed, and returned to the school, a concussion and head injury information release form. A release form shall be signed and returned each school year that a student athlete participates in sport competitions or practice sessions."...
