Courthouse security plan deadline looms

It has been six months since Bourbon County exempted itself from a law that allows individuals to carry weapons into public buildings. As part of the exemption, the county was to develop a security plan by Jan. 1. On Monday, Bourbon County Commissioners told County Attorney Terri Johnson they don't have a plan yet. Let the light show begin

Local resident Jim Brown's yard at 13 S. Margrave St., is festive with Christmas lights and a display for the holiday season. Brown's display includes a light show that is coordinated with holiday music that can be heard on the radio at 100.5 FM. Brown, an electrician, built the circuit boards and programmed the light show himself. The combined light show and music lasts 16 minutes and runs from 6 to 10 p.m. each day...

Fort Scott High School's basketball teams held Red & White Scrimmages at the FSHS gymnasium Monday night as they prepare for their season openers against Willard (Mo.) at the Willard Four-State Classic Thursday night.
