Uniontown High School Homecoming royalty will be crowned at 6 p.m. Friday. The football game starts at 7 p.m. and a dance will follow.

The Memorial Hall roof will be reconstructed soon following the selection of a contractor at Tuesday's Fort Scott City Commission meeting. This is relation to damage from the hail storm that pummeled the city on April 7. Florence M. "Flo" Anderson, 64, of Fort Scott, Kan., died Monday morning Sept, 16, 2013 at Mercy Hospital. She was born Aug. 1, 1949 in Albuquerque, N.M. She married David Anderson June 13, 1993 in Bronson, Kan., and he survives of the home. In addition to her husband David, Flo is survived by her daughter, Lisa Thurston of Fort Scott; her stepchildren, Shane Durkin of Fort Scott, Shane Anderson, Tanya Anderson, both of Broken Arrow, Okla., Jewel Mutchler, and Angie Mutchler, both of Lincoln, Neb.; and a sister, Elsie Kally.. ...

Wayne Cecil Rash, age 89, a resident of Garland, Kan., died Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2013, at Fort Scott Mercy Hospital. He was born June 30, 1924, in Phelps City, Mo., the son of Roy Rash, Sr. and Effie Ethel Pressnell Rash. Wayne graduated from high school in Rock Port, Mo. ...

Lester Albert Malcolm, 94, of Chanute, Kan., passed away at Hillview Nursing Center in Platte City, Mo., on Friday, Sept. 13, 2013. He was born on Feb. 9, 1919 in Chanute, Kan. the son of Lester and Jessie Malcolm. He served his country in the United States Army during WWII and was part of the invasion of Normandy and received a purple heart...

MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa -- Fort Scott Community College's volleyball team posted a 1-3 record in the Marshalltown Tournament over the weekend, picking up its only win on Saturday over North Iowa Area.
