Carolyn Emma Price, age 84, former resident of Fort Scott, and more recently of Coweta, Okla., died Wednesday morning, May 8, at St. Francis Hospital, Tulsa, Okla. She was born in Bourbon County, Kan., the daughter of Perry William Townsend and Malinda Elizabeth Snyder Townsend. She graduated high school in 1947. She worked for Mercy Hospital as a supply clerk. Carolyn enjoyed crocheting, collecting dolls and reading, especially western novels...

On Tuesday, the Fort Scott City Commission approved donating of a small strip of city-owned land to Mercy Hospital Fort Scott for the purpose of expanding the Mercy Convenient Care clinic located at 1624 S. National Ave. Mercy Hospital Fort Scott President Reta Baker, who was present at the meeting, told the commission Mercy wants to expand services at the Mercy Convenient Care location by offering an occupational health and wellness program to businesses in the community, but to provide the program, additional space is required to accommodate the needed equipment.. ...

Directors of Regional baseball and softball tournaments released the brackets for next week's tournaments on Wednesday afternoon and both of Fort Scott High School's teams find themselves in nine-team brackets.
