In an effort to address an anticipated spike in usage at the Bourbon County Landfill, county commissioners decided during their regular meeting on Friday to extend operating hours at the landfill this weekend. Authorities said three people are dead following a house fire Wednesday afternoon in rural Bourbon County just south of Fort Scott. While processing the scene Thursday at 688 240th Street, investigators discovered two bodies in the burned residence. Scott Township Rural Fire and Garland Rural Fire departments were dispatched to the residence Wednesday afternoon following a report of a structure fire. The Bourbon County Sheriff's Office also responded to the incident...
