Among the long list of motions passed during Thursday's rescheduled Fort Scott Community College Board of Trustees meeting were several items regarding fees and tuition for the 2013-2014 school year. Trustees approved a motion to keep in-county tuition at $47 per credit hour, but raised in-state tuition $3 to $50 per credit hour. Contiguous State tuition will be $78, Out-of-State $106 and International $128, which all represent a $3 increase per credit hour...

Experts say snow dumped on the Midwest from two big storms in less than a week -- including nearly 7 inches in Fort Scott and Bourbon County earlier this week -- may not end a lengthy drought in Kansas and other states but will definitely help the situation...

Fort Scott High's girls held seventh-seeded Columbus to just three points, all on free throws, in the fourth quarter Friday night as the Tigers claimed a 44-25 victory in the semifinals of their own Class 4A Sub-State Basketball Tournament. The Tigers (16-5), who began the season 0-4 but have since won 16 of their last 17, which includes their last 12 on a row, will face top-seeded Frontenac (18-4) at 6 p.m. ...
