The USD 234 Board of Education is moving closer to finding a replacement for one of its longtime members. Earlier this month, through a legal notice in The Fort Scott Tribune, the board requested all patrons interested in being a candidate for the vacancy on the board in District 3-6 to notify USD 234 Business Manager Alan Drake by Nov. 22...

Since receiving renovation recommendations in 2001, the Fort Scott National Cemetery has been making progress on its upgrades. And more improvements are on the way. Fort Scott National Cemetery Director William Owensby said that several upgrades have recently been completed including raising and realignment of all the headstones (headstones from different eras of war are different sizes and at different heights,) installing a new irrigation system and resurfacing the roads. ...

Lindsay Hill was selected for the position of Fort Scott Community College head volleyball coach November 19, and has already jumped into her new role. "FSCC was looking for a leader who could come into this position and make the necessary changes to move our women's volleyball program to the next level," Athletic Director J.D. Ettore said. "After all of the interviews were completed, it became apparent that Lindsay was the right person for the position."...

For the first time in somewhere around 15 years, Fort Scott High School's basketball teams held a public scrimmage Monday night at the FSHS gymnasium. "It was my sophomore year that was the last time we may have done this, if I remember right," Fort Scott girls' head coach Jeff Armstrong said...
