During the Civil War, the third and last battle that occurred in Kansas on Tuesday, Oct. 25, 1864; was the Battle of the Little Osage. Laurie Magee, 55, wife of Dr. Larry Magee, of Lawrence, Kan., and daughter-in-law of former Fort Scott resident Violet Magee, died Oct. 4, 2010 at Lawrence Memorial Hospital. Johnny Ray "John" Jones, 47, of Uniontown, Kan., died Wednesday, Nov. 10, 2010 at St. John's Regional Medical Center in Joplin, Mo. He was born Oct. 22, 1963 in Fort Scott, Kan., the son of Lee Charles and Opal Ilene (Ballou) Jones. Survivors include a brother, Charles Jones of Uniontown, Kan.; a sister, Carol Adamson of Fort Scott, Kan.; two nephews, Joshua Adamson, and Jesse Jones; one niece, Ashley Adamson and numerous cousins...
