Military Reunion revisits Fort Scott

For the first time since 1992, A Company 5th Engineer Combat Battalion returned to Fort Scott last weekend for their annual reunion. The men said with a laugh that they keep getting together to see who is still alive. The atmosphere was much more than humorous, it was family-like. KHP urges child safety awareness

Motor vehicle crashes are the leading cause of death for children three to six years of age and between eight and 14 years of age, according to the Kansas Highway Patrol. To help reduce the number of children who are hurt or killed each year as a result of motor vehicle crashes, the Kansas Department of Transportation, the Safe Kids Kansas organization, KHP, and other safety organizations are participating in National Child Passenger Safety Week, a national effort to remind parents and caregivers of the lifesaving effect child safety seats have in protecting young children.. ...

Ropin' and Rockn' ticket sales going well

Just three and a half weeks after going on sale, over 1,000 tickets have been sold for the Ropin' and Rockin' for Pennies for the Park. According to Youth Activities Team Co-convener Clayton Tatro, 1,014 tickets have been sold so for the event with most of the tickets being purchased by Fort Scott area residents. Adam LaRoche, who is co-sponsoring the event is pleased with the number of tickets sold in the community, a goal he had from the beginning...
