A group of Uniontown Junior Senior High School students received the award for the top project in Kansas in their division at the National History Day Championships on June 10-14 in College Park, Md. UJSHS students Jessica Schaaf, Koltan Schaaf, Courtney Boyd and Kylie Shepard, and their group exhibit on the life of civil rights activist Fannie Lou Hamer, titled "This Little Light of Mine," were chosen as the winners of the Kansas Award in the senior division at the recent national competition, UJSHS instructor Norm Conard said in a written statement.. ...

Online instruction a growing option for FSCC students

Online classes are quickly becoming a more important part of instruction at Fort Scott Community College, FSCC officials said. During the FSCC Board of Trustees meeting on Monday, FSCC Dean of Instruction Mary Ann Leamon-Childers informed the board that since June of last year, there has been a total of 1,192 courses offered on the college campus, which includes an increase in Internet-based instruction...
