Four local teens arrested for minor in possession

Fort Scott police arrested four teenagers early Sunday for minor in possession and drinking alcohol at a party on the 1000 block of Holbrook Street. Police also during the incident took into custody a 14 and 15 year- old teens for curfew violation. They were not drinking or possessing alcohol, according to the police report...

She was born March 24, 1918, in Walnut, Kan., the daughter of Joseph Page and Anna Goff Page. At the age of 12, the family moved to Hiattville. She married Peter 0. Peterson on July 30, 1938. USD 234 board, teachers' union reach agreement on contracts

After months of negotiating, the contract dispute between the USD 234 Board of Education and Fort Scott's Kansas National Education Association (KNEA) members has been resolved. During a Feb. 22 meeting between the two sides, a two-year contract was proposed that would resolve this year's contract dispute, which nearly reached the fact-finding stage, while also setting the terms for the 2007-08 school year contract. ...

Wal-Mart building to house several tenants

The current but soon-to-be vacant Wal-Mart building may soon be filled with two retail businesses. When Wal-Mart relocates to a new building just south of the existing store in a few months, it leaves behind a 78,000-square-foot building.
