FSCC volleyball stays at No. 16

Fort Scott Community College's volleyball stayed put at No. 16 in the National Junior College Athletic Association Division II Volleyball Poll released Wednesday afternoon.

While the Greyhounds didn't move up or down in the poll, two other Jayhawk Conference teams made moves.

Conference member Cowley remains No. 1 in the poll. Though listed as 6-0 in the poll, the Tigers were actually 11-0 going into a Wednesday night home match against Independence.

Butler didn't even receive votes last week but vaulted all the way to the No. 7 position in this week's poll. The Grizzlies were 9-1 going into a Wednesday night home match with Neosho County.

Johnson County moved down one spot to No. 8. The 9-2 Cavaliers hosted Hesston Wednesday night.

Kansas City and Fort Scott were scheduled to meet Wednesday night in a battle of ranked teams. KCK dropped one spot from 14 to 15 in this week's poll. The Blue Devils stood at 9-1 while Fort Scott was 11-1 (listed at 10-1 in the poll).

Highland continued to receive votes. The Scotties, 7-4, hosted Allen Wednesday night.

Of all the KJCCC teams appearing in the poll, Fort Scott was the only one scheduled to be on the road Wednesday night. They Greyhounds will be home for a non-conference match against Longview (Mo.) Tuesday night at 6 p.m. in Arnold Arena.


NOTE: After deadline Wednesday night, the Jayhawk Conference reported that Kansas City defeated Fort Scott in four sets. Details will be published when they become available.
